Why is search returning no results?
If documents show as indexed but searches come back empty, check these in order:
1. Container tag scoping
Search runs within a container tag. If your documents were written with a tag (e.g. per-user tags), an unscoped search — or a search with a different tag — returns nothing. Make sure the containerTag in your search request matches the one used at write time exactly.
2. API key and organization
- Keys belong to an organization. A key from a different org (or a newly created second account) searches an empty dataset.
- Scoped keys are restricted to specific tags — verify what the key can see.
3. Indexing lag
Documents become searchable when indexing completes. Right after a large import, give it a few minutes and check the document status in the dashboard.
4. Recently renamed or merged tags
If you recently merged or renamed container tags and search under the new tag is empty, contact support — we can reindex the affected tag.
Reporting it
If none of the above applies, this is exactly the kind of issue we want to hear about immediately. Include: your org ID, the container tag, one document ID you expect to match, and the exact search request (endpoint + body, with the key redacted). We treat "indexed but unsearchable" as a high-priority bug.
